Decorating Little Girls Rooms
Home renovation can be a real chore, making sure you get the most economical kitchen appliances, sanding and scrubbing and scouring until you muscles ache, bickering over color schemes and tile designs. There is one area of home renovation, however, that is always exciting, and totally different from the rest of the house. Decorating little girls rooms. For some reason, parents all around the world absolutely love choosing colors, cartoon characters, curtains and bedding for their little girl. Every girl deserves to feel like a princess in her room, and parents for the most part are more than happy to comply.
When choosing a color scheme for your little girls room, the obvious choice is shades of pink and purple. These colors have a naturally relaxing element to them, and are great for bedrooms in general. Not all girls love pink, however, and you shouldn’t feel like you are limited to this very small range of decor. Some girls prefer bright powerful colors, which can also be used to great effect, and others are real tomboys and want robots, dragons and racing cars in their rooms. The bottom line is, every girl is a unique and special person, and you as a parent know her better than anyone else. Make sure you include her in the decor choices you make, if she is old enough to do so. Even if it’s just a matter of taking her with you to the bedding shop and paying attention to what styles draw her attention.
Furnishings are only the tip of the bedroom decorating task however. Once you have chosen a bed, be it a four poster or a sleigh bed, you then have to cover the bed in appropriate bedding. this is another place where you can let your imagination run wild. Does you daughter have a favorite cartoon character, or is she in love with a particular type of animal? Whether her passion is Winnie The Pooh, Snow White, or polar beds, you will have no problem finding sheets, comforters and pillows to match. Don’t forget to look online if you have limited access to shops, there is nowhere better to find hidden gems that you may otherwise miss out on.
Then of course, you have all the accessories. Lamp shades, chairs, bea bags, side tables, mobiles, posters, teddy bears, the list goes on and on. The only limit you have when it comes to decorating a childs room is your imagination, and of course your wallet. If you do happen to be limited by the amount of money you can spend, then there are many ways to create a room she will love, without going into bankruptcy. The most expensive items in girls bedroom furniture are the big ones, the beds, side tables and chairs. Buying these items second hand from garage sales and clearance centers can not only save you a lot of money, but allow you to be more creative with the overall design of the room. If your girls old enough, you can even get her to help you paint the furniture after it has been sanded back and fixed up. This is a chore that she will love, and will allow her to take more ownership of her room.
