Have you decided that you need a new queen bed sheet set for your home? Are you looking for something to freshen up the look of your bedroom without redecorating the whole thing? Well there are plenty of options out there for you when it comes to bedding. Let us look at those options and choices.

Sheets come in several different types of fabric and each of these types has their own set of uses and benefits. The most important thing to consider when buying sheets is the thread count. Thread count refers to the number of threads in one square inch of fabric, so the higher the number of threads the softer the fabric will be. Ideally, you want to stay above the 200 count when it comes to your sheets for maximum comfort. Next, there are the different types of fabrics to consider. Two types of cotton that are most commonly used are called Supima cotton and Egyptian cotton. Egyptian cotton is grown along the Nile River while Supima is grown in the United States. Both offer excellent comfort and softness in a sheet set. The type of weave used in the production of your sheets also has a deciding factor in how soft and durable your sheets are. A sateen sheet set occurs when a four thread over one thread under weave type is used. This type of sheet is extremely soft, but not very durable due to how many threads are exposed on the surface. A pinpoint weave is the more common weave type used and is a simple two over one under weave type. It is much more durable than sateen, but not nearly as soft.

queen bed sheetsWhen you are searching around for those new queen bed sheets you must keep in mind the size of your queen bed. Is it a regular queen where you only need a standard queen bed sheet or do you need expanded queen bed sheets? What is the difference? Well a queen bed measures 60 inches by 80 inches, however the depth or thickness of your mattress also needs to be known in order to purchase the correct set. Any of the new pillow top mattresses usually require you to buy what is known as a deep set or expanded set of sheets. That is because your bed thickness is 10 to 22 inches deep instead of the standard 7 to 9 inches thick. Knowing this information before you head to the store will ensure that you can purchase the correct queen size bed sheets the first time saving you plenty of extra time.

Well now that you know how to select your queen size bed sheets it is time we look at pricing for the many different styles you encounter. The definition of a set varies from store to store and brand to brand. Typically, a set includes a flat sheet and fitted sheet, but not pillow cases. You will have to purchase those separately, but the good news is that every store will carry a selection of matching comforters, blankets, pillow cases, shams, and bed skirts to accompany your new sheet set. A 500 thread count sheet set is priced around $80. A set of 250 thread count sheets will be priced around $25. As you can see, the pricing is based on the softness of your sheets. Name brand sheets use the same fabric types as non name brand sheets; so make sure that you are not just paying for a name. Now that you know a little bit more about what your sheets actually consists of get out there and freshen up your bedroom with a new purchase.
